Başkent University Istanbul Hospital opened in Altunizade on 23 February 2007 as a healthcare and research centre of Başkent University. The university built the facility using its own resources. The hospital brings together inpatient treatment, outpatient consultations and diagnostic services, supported by additional outpatient premises and a separate dialysis centre in Çekmeköy.
The main hospital building covers approximately 13,000 square metres and has 126 beds. Its published breakdown comprises 70 inpatient beds, 21 palliative care beds and intensive care units for newborn babies, anaesthesia and resuscitation, coronary care and cardiovascular surgery. The separately located dialysis centre is described as having 44 beds.
The hospital’s clinical services include organ transplantation, cardiology and several areas of cancer surgery. Breast, colorectal, gynaecological and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery are among the named services. Organ transplant care includes assessment, surgery and follow-up by a multidisciplinary team. The diabetic foot centre similarly brings together relevant disciplines to assess wounds, infection, circulation and tissue loss.
Inpatient monitoring includes fixed and telemetric systems, allowing observation while patients move outside their rooms. The hospital describes an emergency response system activated through nurse-call equipment in patient rooms and bathrooms. Technical monitoring covers ventilation, temperature, generators and uninterrupted power supplies in critical areas.
The university’s healthcare quality system is certified to TS-EN ISO 9001:2015. The hospital also publishes an international health tourism authorisation. Online appointment and test-result services support access to consultations and medical information alongside the hospital’s clinical departments.
