A well-planned medical trip lets you focus on your health instead of logistics. Use this checklist in the weeks before you travel.
4–6 weeks before
- Have an online consultation with the treating doctor and receive a written treatment plan
- Ask what is included: tests, hospital stay, medications, transfers, follow-up
- Check visa requirements for your nationality on Turkey’s official e-visa website
- Arrange travel insurance; check whether it covers complications from planned treatment
- Tell your own doctor about your plans and ask for a summary of your medical history
2 weeks before
- Confirm dates with the clinic in writing
- Book accommodation near the clinic with a flexible cancellation policy
- Book a return flight with extra days for recovery and a final check-up
- Prepare a list of your medications and any allergies, in English
What to pack
- Passport, medical documents and test results (paper and digital)
- Your regular medications in original packaging
- Loose, comfortable clothes that are easy to put on after surgery
- A small power bank, phone charger and adapter (Turkey uses type C/F sockets)
On arrival
- Save the clinic’s and your coordinator’s phone numbers, including an after-hours contact
- Get a local SIM or eSIM so you can be reached easily
- Ask whether an interpreter will be present at consultations
Before you leave Turkey
- Attend your final check-up
- Get a detailed medical report in English, including what was done and any medications
- Agree on a follow-up plan and know who to contact if something worries you at home
