How We Score

Every clinic on ClinicGuide Turkey carries a CG+ Medical Tourism Score out of 100. This page is the whole framework: what the number measures, what it cannot measure, how it is arrived at, and how to argue with it.

We publish this because a rating nobody can inspect is just an assertion. If you cannot check our working, the number is worth nothing.

What the score is

A measure of how well a clinic is set up to treat an international patient, and how much of that we could verify. It is a score against a published framework, applied by people. It is not an algorithm and not a popularity ranking.

What the score is not

  • It is not a clinical outcome prediction. Nothing in Turkey publishes facility-level success, complication or infection rates, so nothing of the kind is in this score and nothing of the kind is on this site.
  • It is not medical advice, and it cannot examine you. A high score says nothing about whether a treatment is right for you, or right at all.
  • It is not a cost comparison. We publish no savings figures and no versus-your-home-country numbers, and there is no way to sort or filter clinics by price anywhere on this site. Sorting a medical decision by cost is the ordering most likely to produce a bad outcome for the person doing it.
  • It is not a guarantee. A listing is not an endorsement and a score is not a warranty.

The 100 points

The score is built from a 60-point core shared with our sister directories, plus a 40-point module written specifically for Turkey, less penalties capped at 25 points. Twenty-two criteria in total: fifteen in the shared core, seven in the Turkey module.

The shared core, 60 points

Reputation and reviews22
International patient readiness14
Accreditation and licence12
Travel, logistics and aftercare8

The Turkey module, 40 points

The module is what makes this a Turkish directory rather than a generic one. It scores the things that actually separate clinics in this market: whether a named physician performs the procedure, whether the listing holds its own facility licence or is an intermediary agency, where the treatment physically happens, whether the Ministry of Health international health tourism authorisation is held separately from the facility licence, which languages the clinical staff speak as distinct from the sales team, how a complication is handled once a patient has flown home, and how long an enquiry takes to reach a human being.

Penalties, up to 25 points deducted

Applied for things such as a Google Business Profile that resolves to a virtual office or a mail drop, contact details that do not reach the clinic, or claims we could not substantiate.

What we publish, and what we hold back

On every clinic profile we publish the total and the five group subtotals. We do not publish the individual line items. A rubric detailed to the line can be reverse-engineered and gamed, and a score that can be gamed stops measuring anything. The groups are specific enough to show you where a clinic is strong and where it is thin.

How the review score is handled

We host no patient reviews of our own. We record the clinic's third-party platform rating, its review count and the date we retrieved it, linked to the source, and we never blend platforms into a composite figure. Platforms weight, moderate and solicit reviews differently, and a blended number has no reproducible method behind it.

Within the Reputation group, volume counts for more than the rating, because almost every clinic in this market sits between 4.3 and 4.9 and the rating alone discriminates between nothing.

A rating is not a verification status and never renders as one.

Who scores

Scoring is done by our medical editor, who also holds the authority to reject a clinic outright. Our editorial researchers collect and record the evidence; they do not score. See Who scores.

How often it is re-checked

Each fact behind a score carries its own published refresh interval. Past its interval a fact is shown as stale rather than quietly carried forward. A visibly ageing date is honest; a current date that nothing supports is not.

DataRe-checked
Licence and regulatory statusEvery 12 months
AccreditationEvery 12 months, or at expiry
Clinic contact confirmationEvery 12 months
Provider-supplied pricesEvery 6 months
Third-party review dataEvery 3 months
Facility tourEvery 24 months

The score itself is reviewed annually. Every card shows the month it was scored and the month its next review is due.

What money cannot buy

ClinicGuide Turkey is published by Altay Health Ltd., which takes listing fees from providers. We do not claim editorial independence. We tell you how we are paid and what that does and does not affect. See Who scores for the full disclosure.

Payment never influences a score, a position within editorially ordered results, a verification status, or the removal of an unflattering but accurate fact. Advertisers must hold Fully verified status on criteria identical to everyone else. Paid placement is always labelled Advertisement, Sponsored or Paid placement, and always visually separated from editorial results.

If you think a score is wrong

Challenge it. Corrections backed by evidence are free, always, and we publish what changed. Challenge a score.
